Notoriously known for season themes, Kate and Laura Mulleavy took their Fall 2011 collection to the midwest American plains, and made it look better than ever!!

Loving these backstage snapshots!! |
The collection featured the old American prairie feel with wheat-printed skirts and dresses, crocheted knits, pony skin separates, ankle-grazing prairie coats, and geometric prints hinting at the quilting history of the American plains.
The colors stayed classically beautiful with washed out hay and wheat colors, pastel sky blues, ever-changing grays, and most surprising were a couple of bright red dresses in the end! Kate then explained:
"We couldn't go to Nebraska and Kansas and not do a Wizard of Oz reference." (LOVE)
A truly beautiful story at Rodarte for the Fall 11 season!
Though commercial is one thing you can't call this collection, compared to the past few seasons for the Mulleavy sisters, this collection is taking one step closer to attracting a market they have ignored in the past. It will be interesting how the collection translates into the stores of Saks, Bergdorfs, and Barneys! I can't wait to see it up close and in-person!
