Julie Gilhart Speaks Up

Julie Gilhart hasn't made a public appearance since leaving Barney's in the fall, that was until Friday when he made a speech at the AFINGO Fashion Forum for the Sustainability and Philanthropy panel. After being a VP at Barney's for 18 years one has to wonder, what exactly will she do next?

Attempting to save the world! 

“I’m super-excited, all those things I wanted to do at Barneys I can now do.” says Gilhart

 What is Ms. Gilhart referring to exactly? Well, making the fashion industry one environmentally conscious place! In her speech Gilhart talked about having to talk to and change the way the big players do business, that is the mass retailers like the Walmarts of the world. "I have lots of hope. LVMH and PPR are working up to it." says Gilhart.

So if she's gotten the luxury market on her side, we sure hope Julie Gilhart is able to change the way the big players do business! Quite an interesting direction Gilhart is taking, but it does make sense. She did always have an appreciation for the conscious new talent in the fashion industry...
