WWD Wednesday: New Film Takes a Historic Look at Street Photography

The upcoming documentary titled “Everybody Street” goes back to the beginning of the New York street style photography (starting 90 years ago!) that has become so popular today. The film’s website explains its inspiration:

“’Everybody Street’ illuminates the lives and work of New York’s iconic street photographers and the incomparable city that has inspired them for decades. The documentary pays tribute to the spirit of street photography through a cinematic exploration of New York City, and captures the visceral rush, singular perseverance and at times immediate danger customary to these artists.”

A photographer and documentarian, Cheryl Dunn, is the film’s director. It will be released on November 11 and have showings at the Brooklyn’s Nitehawk Cinema on the 12, 16 and 17 as well. It will also be available on Vimeo prior to its debut “to appeal to the masses” as street photographers have been known to do.
