Soft Colors

Spring is finally here! Well... not exactly, but it has been feeling that way the past couple of days (early spring maybe). Don't you just love this time of year! Cool breezes, birds singing, and beautiful skies. Just makes you want to sit outside all day and read a good book.

These sunglasses make a bold statement!
But on a fashion note pastels, light weight jackets, and cool prints are just a few perfect additions to your  wardrobe to have that fabulous spring time look. So in the lastest issue of Grazia Germany, Lovisa Ekholm rocks what may inspire you today for tomorrows new look.

Lea T., Muse to Givenchy's Tisci on Oprah

WARNING: This issues is about Transsexuality, but I am extremely touched with Lea T.'s story enough to share it.

In case you missed yesterday's Oprah, Lea T. was on to share her story of her past, and the future of becoming a woman. A very emotional story, Lea admits she's frightened to get the sex-change surgery.
"I was hoping I was gay. I was like, ok, I'm gay, because for my family it's less painful....I wish I could accept my body as a man....I would be a straight guy, having a girlfriend and a family, daughters, married, a normal life, but it's something in your brain."
The fashion industry has been known as being one of the leaders in starting the conversation to Transsexuality, I find Lea T.'s story fascinating and very touching. As we can see there is a lot more the the fashion industry than pretty close and profit, it is an opportunity to further our society to become more open minded. I wish you all the best of luck in your journey to help!

Rising Star: Aris Paschalidis

The world of Male Modeling is just as competitive as the world of Women's Modeling  (go figure). So when I get the chance to highlight someone who I believe is a rising star I will always take the opportunity!

No words....
Introducing Aris Paschalidis, a 21 year old model currently living in Manhattan. With the portrait shots done by photographer Antonis Kozakidis, expect to see this face walking the runways and soon to appear in campaigns. My best bets would place him with companies such as Band of Outsiders, Alexander Wang, and Rag and Bone.

Very beautifully done portraits, if you see him on the streets get me a phone #!

Editorial: Alina Baikova in Viva la Revolución

I am dreaming of summer. And more than that, I am dreaming of a summer where I DON'T see New York women running around in their favorite shade of black. With the design inspirations from those such as Miuccia Prada and the house of Gucci I do not see why women should have to settle for anything black this coming spring and summer!

Frida did a fantastic job with Gucci this spring! Alina looks incredible!
Vogue Australia shot a fantastic editorial with many of my favorite looks from the coming season, including my FAVORITE Prada banana print! Entitled: Viva la Revolución, this is a fantastic way to get your mind thinking as to what your inspiration will be once the weather warms up.

Prada Spring 2011...forever & always <3
Take a look through the photos and soak in the Spanish-inspired looks, it will be a HUGE improvement to your wardrobe come the sunny days of walks along the Chelsea Piers and Central Park!

Editorial: Denisa Dvorakova for Vogue Russia

We've all seen it (or at least most of us!), Black Swan is a powerful drama that was bound to influence the fashion industry. The Rodarte sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, did a fantastic job with the costumes they helped design for the film. And I have finally come upon an editoral I admire enough to share with you all!

What would you give to be in this portrait?!
Vogue Russia tackles the theme of Swan Lake as model Denia Dvorakova is shot by Jason Schmidt. And in my opinion, took only the most visually appealing aspects of the film and were able to make it their own for a beautiful editorial!

Enjoy!

The final shot, as beautiful as the first!

M.S. Loves: Menswear

To go along with Brittany's great introduction to Men's Fashion Week we have one of my favorite suiting editorials! Though the Merchandising Society is largely made up of women, we cannot ignore the fact that the Menswear sector of the fashion industry is one of the fastest growing! (That and that the editor of The Society is a man himself...)
Pay attention ladies, THIS is how your man should dress (on business days that is....)
In a business where CENTIMETERS make a world of a difference (I know from experience), it takes sharp tailoring skills to be successful in the menswear industry. Brendan Ruck models for Argyle, and does a fantastic job at showcasing a few menswear looks from prominent designers in the business. Take a look for yourself, and hopefully in the coming season we can bring you an inside scoop into the menswear business!

Note to self: must buy amazing scarves to go with my blazers...

I guess I wouldn't mind a stroll through the forests in this outfit...
How many of the guys are looking forward to going home for the holidays? Well if you're like me, your going back to....the midwest...I get chills thinking about it. HOWEVER, with men's trend inspiration like Patrick Kafka's shoot for Instinct Magazine I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy this holiday season! Lookout western US, NYC boys are coming home in some amazing Fair-isle!

Wow! He is gorgeous isn't he?!
