October 25th - October 27th: Visit one of New York's top 5 scariest haunted houses! CBS provides all of the websites for more information and ticket prices, that is, if you aren't chicken...

October 26th: For those who don't want to be scared to death, go to the High Line for some Halloween fun! The Haunted High Line Halloween event will include trick-or-treating, art exhibits, music, and a "haunted" train tunnel and it's free!

October 27th: Last but not least, why not join us for a fall picnic in Central Park and then for the Pumpkin Sail?! Watch as carved pumpkins float across the water at sunset, making for a beautiful sight! Feel free to bring your own jack o' lantern, or just enjoy the view. Be sure to bring a MetroCard and be ready for a bunch of Halloween festivities! We will meet outside of the Feldman Center at 2pm.

Hayley's "This Week in the City" Pick: This Week in the City join or watch the iconic Village Halloween Parade.  For those dressing up, meet on 6th Ave South of Spring St and North of Canal between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. For those watching, line up on 6th Ave from Spring St. to 16th St. from 7-10:30pm. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas

The Halloween festivities are fast approaching; and just in time to celebrate the end of midterms. We created a collection of costume ideas for us students who have been too busy to pick one just yet.

Take some Inspiration from your favorite TV shows:

You only have to make a few additions to any cavewoman costume to be Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.

All you need is an Edwardian Style dress and accessories to be a character from Downton Abbey like Lady Mary Crawley.

Bring your own chic updates to the classic schoolgirl costume to be Serena van der Woodsen or Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl.

A 60s style dress and wig can recreate Megan’s iconic singing scene from Mad Men.

 Movies:

There is a wide selection of flapper costumes that can be accessorized to look like Daisy Buchanan from this year’s The Great Gatsby movie.

One of the cutest couple costumes of the year can be taken from Moonrise Kingdom.

Famous Artwork:

A little make-up and a polka dot outfit can create the perfect pop art by Roy Lichtenstein costume.

Graffiti style paint can be used to make a costume inspired by the street artist Banksy.

You can even turn your outfit into the famous painting of your choice.

The Weekender October 26-28

Happy Halloween Everyone! Enjoy this weeks events dedicated for the Holiday!

Killers: A Nightmare Haunted House
Unlike every haunted house you've been to, this one might actually make your skin crawl. Instead of the usual ghosts, zombies, and vampires, this haunted house immerses you in the world of real psychopaths. This years theme focuses on historical and contemporary serial killers like Ted Bundy, Albert Fish, and the Zodiac killer. Prices range from $30-$60, and it's located at the Clemente Soto Velez Culutral Center at 107 Suffolk Street (between Delancey and Rivington Streets). The event starts at 6pm and it running until Saturday, November 3rd.

Coney Island's Nights of Horror
Luna Park at Coney Island has been invaded by "ghastly characters raring to scare the pants off of you!" Your ticket includes unlimited rides on 11 of the theme park rides including the Electro Spin and Brooklyn Flyer; it also includes 2 themed haunted houses. Tickets are $30 and this event is going on until Sunday, October 28th. The address for Coney Island is 1000 Surf Ave, New York.

New York City Ghost Tour:
Feel like going on a ghost tour? During the New York City Ghost Tour, the guides dress in Victorian-era attire which illuminates the gloomy stroll through supernatural haunts in Greenwich Village. You'll hear stories of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire and the Hangman's Elm (which is called this because of the executions are rumored to have taken place on the branches). The Ghost Tour is meeting under Washington Square Arch, Washington Square North at Fifth Ave. The Ghost Tour requires reservations and the tickets are between $15-$20. The tour is running until Friday, October 30th.

What We're Reading: HALLOWEEN EDITION!

If you're as exhausted as we are from celebrating Halloween over the weekend, odds are you aren't dressed up on campus today, but that doesn't mean you can't get into the Halloween spirit today!! If you're feeling super lazy or stressed with the school/work day and can't make it to the parade tonight, make sure you check out our featured Halloween blogs we're reading!

Hey hey hey and HAPPY FRIDAY! It's been a long, cold week and it's time to start the weekend off right! Here is another handy dandy installment of the The Weekender Report.

Friday: 

• Want to do a haunted house but too scared to go to Blackout Haunted House? Check out the Steampunk Haunted House instead! Located on Grand St., this attraction takes you into a darker side of Lewis Carroll's classic fiction. Upon arriving, visitors will be "thrust into a beautiful and terrifying dreamscape of neo-Victorian elegance and phantasmagoric clockwork horrors." Students pay $10 but only for walk-up the day of. There are many ways people get into the mood for Halloween, talking about costumes, carving pumpkins, playing with zombie make up and making your digs look as spooky as possible! One thing that has never failed in getting us in the mood of course is the genius mind of Tim Burton!
