The Weekender: September 13th - 15th

Happy Friday Readers!

Fashion Week is now over, but don't worry, there are many more things to see and do in the city! Below are some options. We hope they spark your fancy!

September 13th - December 31st: Go on the TMZ Tour! During this fun bus ride, you will get to see hot spots like Jessica Simpson's favorite Mexican restaurant, and even the infamous hotel where Charlie Sheen...(err we would rather not say). This tour has over 70 highlighted places to see, and monitors inside of the bus play TMZ commentary to keep tour-goers interested between stops. For more information visit: http://onlocationtours.com/tour/tmz-nyc/ (This company has Gossip Girls and Sex in the City tours as well).

September 14th - November 3rd: The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a new exhibit called 'The Roof Garden Commission: Imran Qureshi". Imran splatters pools of wet paint on the roof as connecting points for intricate floral patterns. This would be a great way to enjoy the wonderful weather!

September 15th: We thought that this new restaurant would make a great lunch spot on a Sunday afternoon!

"Archie & Sons Joining fellow neighborhood greasy spoons B&H and Stage, Howie Cohen relocated his Long Island luncheonette, established in 1983, to the East Village. Styled as a ‘50s throwback with pastel walls and subway tiles, the cheery dinette specializes in unfussy American eats: three-egg omelettes, honey-mustard chicken sandwiches and a family-recipe macaroni salad, as well as old-timey drinks like Arnold Palmers. 23 Third Ave between St. Marks Pl and E 9th St  (646-823-9423)" (http://www.timeout.com/newyork/food-drink/restaurant-and-bar-openings-september-12-18-2013

The Weekender Report

It's that time of the week again darlings...are you ready to party?  Thought you might be!  Especially since we have no classes on Monday!  Time to take a break from the books and projects, and time to go cray cray!  Fashion Week may have come to an end but  this is your last chance to party like a model! No excuses, it's your weekend to let loose. Here are our picks of what to do this weekend!

FRIDAY:

Do you feel the good vibes?  It's really relaxing music!

  • Are you getting tired of the same old DJs at the same old clubs?  Bored of the music on your iPod? Well, then maybe you should check out Mates of State at Le Poisson Rouge tonight! It's live music, but also kind of mellow.  It's a cool change from the same old Top 40 songs on the radio.  It's 18+ 6:30-10pm.  Start your night off here with friends to get your group in good vibes.  See more about the event here

Shopping ECST-ETSY: Down with Love

Hey hey readers. It's Thursday, which means another thrilling Etsy shopping guide! As we all know, this week, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from her husband of like, a month, Kris Humphries. Consequently, it seems as if the "sanctity" of marriage is crumbling at our very feet! To go along with the devastating news about Kim's marriage, for their November issue, the Atlantic journal did an article about why more American women are single than ever before.

Don't fret, though, dear readers. Beyonce made being single wildly popular with "Single Ladies" (let's ignore the fact that she's happily married), and there is more to life than a significant other! Down with love! Let's focus our heart-tugging affections on some items and objects that actually deserve our attention.

Let's get down to business. If you find yourself in the middle of a situation as unfortunate as a divorce, focus your affections on something (or someone) else! YOUR LAWYER. Duh! You didn't sign a prenup for nothing! Buy this witty shirt here and rub it in your ex's face.

FIT's Daphne Guinness Exhibit: Oh My Guinness!

"This exhibition is done for the benefit of those out there, students or otherwise, who share this love." -Daphne Guinness

As everyone at FIT is aware the Daphne Guinness Exhibit has been on display for quite some time now, but it still has us buzzing! Daphne Guinness has been the fashion world's secret until 2007, when people started to take notice of the heiress. She was at the top of her career in 2009 when she walked in runway shows and became the face of a number of fashion campaigns. However, what has truly caught everyone's is Daphne's undying love for fashion, and unique but instinctive taste.

Daphne is known for wearing the most avant garde pieces in everyday life. But it's like she says,
"We need better things, not more. We should not pollute the world with meaningless, unused things when we can make and support things of rare and precious beauty." -Daphne Guinness

JERSDAY, Etsy Style

Hello dear readers and HAPPY JERSDAY! Aren't you just pumped (pun intended) for tonight's episode of Jersey Shore?! Of course you are, and even if you publicly denounce the addictive MTV show, I know you'll at least be watching the weekend reruns while you chow down on leftover Chinese takeout. (Or maybe that'll just be me. Tehe!)

Is it really Jersday Ronnie?!
Anyway, ever been on Etsy.com?! If you haven't, get out from under your rock and explore the limitless possibilities at the preceding link! And if you are an Etsy veteran (as many of us fabulous FIT kids are), then answer me this: Have you ever searched for "Jersey Shore" on the website?
