The Top 5 Back To FIT Apps!

Welcome back to FIT! (Almost) For those of you who are freshmen, welcome to FIT, we -the upperclassmen that is- are here to help you survive what can be the most hectic time of your life!
I sure hope you all have smartphones by now, because if you don't you sure are missing out on some fantastic tools to help you not just survive your years in college, but dominate the playing field and come out with minimal injuries and plenty of fantastic memories!!

For the 2011-2012 school year I have pulled together the best apps EVERY FIT student should have to stay on top of their work, and make the most of the incredible opportunities NYC has to offer (aka parties!).

Let's start with an app to help you with all the group projects you'll have to do this year, because let's face it FIT is OBSESSED with group projects!

1. GroupMe

GroupMe is the easiest way to communicate with your many groups! Setting it up is a cinch and offers your group a UNIQUE PHONE # you can all text to or you can use the apps built-in group chat! No more confusing Facebook threads, and no more "I haven't been at my computer all day" excuses from those not pulling their weight :D Oh and it's FREE!

2. iTranslate

Let's face it, no matter how hard one studies and tries to learn a new language, it is no easy thing for anyone at FIT. The small amount of class time you get each week can leave you feeling totally unprepared for your homework, luckily there is iTranslate!! It is simply put the best and easiest translating app out there, the option to hear sentences repeated to you in the language with accent makes it a fantastic way to study and get your work done! (FREE!)

3. iBlackout

I honestly don't know how I've survived in NYC for so long without iBlackout! This genius app is the best way to keep track of yourself when out for those famous NYC nights. Using GPS technology no longer will you wake up and wonder where you went last night, iBlackout will show you! Not only that but you'll be able to program contacts you DON'T wish to Call/Text while you're out and the app is activated, BYE BYE DRUNK CALLS/TEXTS! (Only for BBerry wahhh) (FREE!)

4. Mint.Com

NYC is VERY expensive, that is something that is unavoidable. However, it is possible to not go broke in the city with minimal passion for budgeting with the Mint.Com app! If you don't have a Mint account yet, I must say it has been a lifesaver, time-saver, and money-saver many moments in my college life! Keep track of you bank accounts, credit cards, and even student loans with Mint.com and the Mint App will let you check up on your $$$ whenever and wherever you may be! (FREE!)

5. Words With Friends

You're going to get bored during some classes, duh! And the hottest thing on campus to keep yourselves entertained and socializing with your friends is Words With Friends! Scrabble meets Facebook with this app and the best part is that you can play a game with many friends on your schedule and not have to worry about replying quickly. Just don't cheap and use google!!

And those are the Top 5 Apps every FIT student should have to survive this school year, because I'm assuming you all already have the Facebook, Twitter, and Wiki apps! If all else fails, there is always Google!
