Preparation! Burlington Coat Factory

As we all know (or now know!) Burlington Coat Factory is coming to MS tomorrow!! And in case you don't know anything about the company, or have the time to research it, WE'VE DONE IT FOR YOU!!
Read the company summary, and check out the possible questions for them to ensure a successful first guest speaker!!

First of all, Burlington Coat Factory needs a SERIOUS name change! Did you know they sell more than just coats? I'm not gonna lie, I certainly didn't from the name...and in fact they sell more than clothes!
Burlington's (as I will now refer to them from here on out, it sound's more chic don't ya think?)

Anyway, Burlington's product offerings include:
  • Men's, Ladies', and Childrens clothing
  • Shoes & Accessories for all
  • Home Decor (Rugs, bedding, furniture, etc.)
  • A "Baby Depot" (That has LITERALLY everything you could need to raise a child...)
  • And of course it's signature department of great Coat selections!
Basically think of it as a department store version of Kohls/TJMaxx

Facts about the company:
  • PRIVATELY Owned by Bain Capital
  • 2010 revenue reached 2479.30 Million!! (As in 2.4 BILLION!)
  • Close to 28,000 employees.
  • Around 440 stores across 44 states
  • President, CEO, and Director: Thomas A. Kingsbury
Possible Questions:
  • Though they like to say "we sell more than just coats" how big is the coat business for the company anyway?
  • Where does the company plan on going in the future? (As in attracting new customers, how are their customers shopping differently and how will they react to those changes?)
  • How is it that the company can sell goods for up to 60% off and still have a great Gross Margin on the product they sell? (for those of you who don't already know)
  • How does the company plan on expanding their business, new brands, new Burlington's stores?
  • How does the company stay modernized with their family-oriented/older customer?
And that is your quick guide to Burlington's! Let's have a great guest speaker meeting tomorrow!!

P.S. THEY'RE HIRING/LOOKING FOR PAID INTERNS!! Ask tomorrow for the info :)

Check out their website for more info and your own research!
