The Weekender Report

It's Friday, it's Friday it's the end of the weekend it's the last day... Weekender is back with some exciting things to get into.

FRIDAY:

  • The 17th-, 18th- and 19th-century period rooms inside the Brooklyn Museum look a little more contemporary, now that four artists have updated the historically accurate decor with their own works in “Playing House.” This mash-up of past and present features Anne Chu’s silk flowers growing out of plush armchairs and Mary Lucier’s videos playing on furniture that has never held a television before. Installation artist Ann Agee transformed one of the most luxurious rooms into a studio, while Betty Woodman displayed her own ceramics on top of 200-year-old tables and carpets. Located on 200 Eastern Pkwy (at Washington Ave) call 718-638-5000 for more info! 
  • From 5:00pm-7:00pm at Bloomingdale's meet designer Josie Natori in person as you check the launch of the Natori Home Accents Collection. Also it's Bloomingdale's Fashionable Fundraiser all weekend in support of Mentoring USA, a national nonprofit organization under the HELP USA umbrella that is dedicated to creating positive and supportive mentoring relationships for at-risk youths across the country. SATURDAY:  
  • If you’re on the hunt for furniture, artwork or stylish garb, hit up Housing Works Best of Spring event. The monthlong sale kicks off today at the organization’s Soho store and will feature super deals on pieces like Coach wedge espadrilles (marked $50, down from $125) and Marc by Marc Jacobs swim trunks (also $50, down from $138). Proceeds benefit the organization’s services for people with HIV/AIDS.   • In preparation for the Oscars on Sunday at Ars Nova, Rachel Shukert and Michael Schulman created You Like Me as an evening of dramatic reenactment entertainment, in which local celebrities read classic acceptance speeches from awards shows past. SUNDAY
  • It's Oscars sunday, and before you get with your friends in front of the TV stop by Barney's Warehouse Sale from 9:00am-8:00pm. The prices on designer duds bearing labels like Prada and Marni decrease as the days go on, so today, just about all items that are still left will be up to 75 percent off. 
  • The 84th Annual Academy Awards live 7e/4p on ABC. Watch as your favorite stars gather for the nights biggest event in Hollywood
