Condé Nast Enforces Internship Regulations

Just this week Condé Nast reports the new changes to intern policies and regulations. As I was reading the article I was so surprised to see all of the changes in effect for the company. As we all know internships has been such a big part of the industry and a great opportunity for students, but their must be certain guidelines and how much work an intern can really take in one day. Some of the new policies at Condé Nast include:

  • Interns can only work until 7PM and security badges will not be able to work after 7.
  • A required orientation with HR letting interns know to inform them of any concerns due to long hours or being mistreated in the work environment.
  • A stipend for interns at around $550 for the semester.
  • Must receive college credit
  • Interns will not be able to stay at the company for more than one semester.

I think these new regulations will help interns feel more comfortable in their work environment and not have to worry about labour laws. Looks like Condé Nast will be having a strictly enforced internship program. What are your thoughts on these new regulations?
