Women's Wear Daily Wednesday: Nanette Lepore Designs for New York City Ballet

Nanette Lepore has designed the costumes for Charles Askegard and Georgina Pazcoguin in the performance of the New York City Ballet's “Picnic.”

The show premiered tonight at the Joyce Theater in New York. The ballet, which will also be performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, is inspired by the 1975 film, “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” and features music by Dmitri Shostakovich with choreography by Brian Reeder of the American Ballet Theatre. This is the first time Lepore has designed costumes for the ballet.

I love that Nanette's designs for the Ballet reflect those of her Spring 2013 RTW collection.  This skirt from her show is almost identical to the silhouette of the skirt the designer made for Georgina.
