WWD Wednesday: Anna Wintour the Ambassador

At the age of 63 Anna Wintour has been working at Vogue for 30 years 25 of which she has been the editor. There have been many rumors of what Anna Wintour will do next. From becoming a diplomat to entering the entertainment industry, most of the rumors are only that.

The idea of Anna Wintour becoming an ambassador to the U.K. or France has been discussed in the past and was brought up once again this June. The British newspapers, The Guardian and The Independent, made the claim. Wintour’s brother is a political editor at The Guardian, making it seem like less of a rumor and more of the real deal. Bloomberg TV and The New York Times also got involved in the speculation.

Wintour has recently become more involved in politics. She donated $100,000 to the Obama campaign and helped raise over $500,000. It is plausible that a government position would be a reward for such help.

For all of you Vogue readers: don’t get worried yet. Despite the speculation, there are no definite answers as to what her next career step may be. A source of Wintour’s said, “That’s just a hypothetical question. What I know is currently, and she’s very happy with her current job.”
