The Weekender: March 7th - 9th

Happy Weekend!

Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend!!

Anyway, here are this week's picks for some fun this weekend and a break from midterms!

Armory Arts Week:
March 5–9
New York's world-famous Armory Arts Week has grown exponentially since its inception in 1999. The Armory Show (at Piers 92 and 94), and the Art Show (at the Park Avenue Armory)—the week's flagship events for collectors and casual art lovers alike—showcase works from hundreds of galleries around the world. Other events include alternative art fairs like Volta NY and Scope, art tours around the City, panels, artist talks and more.

Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties:
March 7th - July 6th
The Brooklyn Museum marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act with a retrospective of artworks that both reflected and shaped the events of the era. The show encompasses more than a hundred paintings, sculptures and photographs, capturing a variety of voices and approaches to identity, resistance and empowerment—among them Jack Whitten’s Birmingham 1964, a mixed-media work inspired by the violent clashes between police and protesters that year.
