WWD Wednesday: MAC is Our New Best Friend!

It's that time of the week again! WWD Wednesdays are back for some more up to date news for our readers.  Now of course, everyone is in a daze over London and Milan Fashion Weeks that it's difficult to have your mind on anything else. Well, no worries dear readers we have the scoop for you! MAC has surprises instore for the year ahead!

We will soon be able to add another shade to this lineup!

MAC cosmetics has recently just made an annoucement on a brand new collection in the works.  And I for one am beyond excited for it! After having collections inspired by great fashion influencers such as Hello Kitty, Barbie, and Wonder Woman, the company is now adding another to the list! Brace yourselves, MAC is producing a....MARILYN MONROE Collection!!!

Marilyn Monroe has been a huge fashion icon as well as an idol to most of the industry.  Honestly, how can you not love the blonde bombshell?  From her poses, to baby whisper voice...she's got it all.  This woman is a legend, I'm surprised it took MAC this long to come up with the idea!

Although, it's no shocker that they chose to produce the collection now! The entertainment industry has been on a Monroe high more than usual lately.  It started with Michelle Williams unbelieveable performance in My Week With Marilyn to the new NBC show Smash where Katherine McPhee and Megan Hilty fight for the role as Marilyn! But, this beauty is always remembered, in fashion editorials everywhere.  Check out StyleCaster's timeline of celebrities portraying Marilyn through the years.

She is the definition of GLAMOUR.

The collection is reported to have 30 custom-designed products, pricing from $15 to $27.  It's said to have a retro vibe, so we're thinking a lot of reds and hot pinks.  The products include eye shadow, nail lacquer, eyeliner, and lipsticks.  This is all set to arrive in stores in October of this year. Trust me, this collection sounds worth the wait!

Senior VP of MAC Cosmetics, James Gaeger stated:

“Marilyn’s an icon, plain and simple. Her look not only defined a generation but also is relevant today....Marilyn’s back in the zeitgeist."

We couldn't agree more! Her career took off during Hollywood's Golden Age and just hasn't stopped even after her death.   Are you excited to see this collection at MAC stores, or is Marilyn getting too played out for your taste? Let us hear your thoughts! Otherwise stay tuned for more WWD news next week! xo
