Model of the Moment: Joan Small

Emilio Pucci Fall 2012 Show
Joan Smalls may not have won the people's vote as Milan Fashion Week's model of the week on Style.com, but in my eyes she deserves a place in the top spot of the best. As we know the modeling industry hasn't been an easy sector for African Americans to get into, but she proves that there is opportunity for us at the end of the rainbow.

Not only has she been seen rocking the runway in Milan this past week, but she is the first black model in four years to grace the cover of Vogue Italia (March 2012 issue), what a huge accomplishment!
Love the Eye Shadow!

A little bit of her history for those who don't know her, she's half black and Puerto Rican and got her start back in 2007 with Elite Model Management modeling for designers like Riccardo Tisci. At 5'10 the 23-year-old now models for IMG and rocks the runway and models for Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel, Ralph Lauren just to name a few.

She is so stunning and fierce! Here's just some more of her work:

Isabel Marant Fall 2012 Show
Vogue Italia April 2010
Givenchy Pre-Fall 2012
Joan Small is so young and has so far to go as a model and so much more. I can't wait to see what her future entails for her.
