Best of The Oscars 2012

From the Oscars Red Carpet to the Vanity Fair Oscar after party so many of hollywood's biggest stars gathered for the 54th Annual Academy Awards Sunday evening. So on that note I'd like to give you my favorite/best looks of the night. (In no particular order)

Michelle Williams:

Love that shade of orange!

Wearing a cute little number by Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta clutch and Forevermark and Fred Leighton jewelry. This shade of orange is stunning on her and compliments her skin so perfect and I have always loved her pixie hairstyle which along with the sliver bow detailing on the dress adds a bit of playfulness to the look.

Make The Man: Maxton Men

Today on Men's Monday, we present a shopping series we're calling "Make The Man." It is a very dangerous thing for me to do (if you look at my credit card statements you'll know why), but something I'm quite passionate about. Usually I am able to shop online without much danger of spending loads of money on what I'm recommending, however I have come upon a sight that is too hard even for me to resist adding much more to my cart than any man should!

The Weekender Report

It's Friday, it's Friday it's the end of the weekend it's the last day... Weekender is back with some exciting things to get into.

FRIDAY:

• The 17th-, 18th- and 19th-century period rooms inside the Brooklyn Museum look a little more contemporary, now that four artists have updated the historically accurate decor with their own works in “Playing House.” This mash-up of past and present features Anne Chu’s silk flowers growing out of plush armchairs and Mary Lucier’s videos playing on furniture that has never held a television before. Installation artist Ann Agee transformed one of the most luxurious rooms into a studio, while Betty Woodman displayed her own ceramics on top of 200-year-old tables and carpets. Located on 200 Eastern Pkwy (at Washington Ave) call 718-638-5000 for more info!

E! news  reported just recently, Chris Brown has been accused of robbery by snatching a women's iPhone right out of her hands outside of a nightclub in Miami!

Kate Moss has people talking once again! Only this time it's for her haunting images for W Magazine's March 2012 issue.  Everyone knows Kate Moss as the beautiful face that can almost be labeled as the ultimate model, but in this new issue we get to view Kate in a whole new light (or lack of).

WWD Wednesday: MAC is Our New Best Friend!



It's that time of the week again! WWD Wednesdays are back for some more up to date news for our readers.  Now of course, everyone is in a daze over London and Milan Fashion Weeks that it's difficult to have your mind on anything else. Street Style: London Fashion Week 2012

As New York Fashion Week came to a close, London Fashion Week has quickly approached. Not only has it been a great week full of amazing designs, but more inspiration is coming our way from across the pond!

Spotted in London, Olivia Palermo heads to the Topshop fashion show! Yes of course she's sporting some Topshop items herself, which includes her yellow blouse and floral pants. Keeping it nice and simple definitely allows those floral pants to really stand out and it brings in that Spring feel! 

President Obama: Runway To Win

 Happy President's Day Barack Obama!! As you could tell the whole country took the Monday off to relax and enjoy having such an incredible President, including The Society. Now we go back to our duties, and one that this organization feels strongly about is supporting our wonderfully fashionable President in the 2012 Campaign!!

President Obama is EASILY one of the fashion industry's favorite President's that have had the Head of State role, and for many reasons. Mr. Obama has been a vital asset to the retail industry in terms of passing counterfeit legislation and continuing to back projects by the fashion industry in America. The CFDA has fully endorsed him, and of course, he is our favorite because the Obama couple themselves are very well dressed American Icons!

According to NY Daily News earlier today Feb 17th singer Robin Thicke was arrested in Mannahtan for possession of Marijuana.

• Are you getting tired of the same old DJs at the same old clubs?  Bored of the music on your iPod? Well, then maybe you should check out Mates of State at Le Poisson Rouge tonight! It's live music, but also kind of mellow.  It's a cool change from the same old Top 40 songs on the radio.  It's 18+ 6:30-10pm.  Start your night off here with friends to get your group in good vibes.  See more about the event here. 

Cover Girl & Guy: Paulifer (LOL)

Meet the funny co-stars of the new movie Wanderlust Jennifer Aniston & Paul Rudd. This isn't the first time these long time friends have worked together as they cover the March 2012 issue of GQ magazine.

For 42 & 43 they sure do look good!

In the issue Jennifer & Paul talk about relationships, Aging and Jennifer speaks on those recent pregnancy rumors.

My Super Sweet Sixteen: Style Shop Edition

The Style Shop had it's big reopening for Spring semester yesterday and it was a huge success! Style Shop continued their celebration of their 16th year and they do not disappoint.  Throughout the shop were smiling faces and some in awe of all the fabulous new items the shop has! It was truly a celebration that MTV should have covered! But lucky for us, we got to do it instead!

Love Your "Style Shop" This Valentine's Day!

One more reason to love Valentine's Day!

 Style Shop kicked off this semester with more reasons to fall in love with fashion. Opening on Valentines Day,the store will continue its sweet sixteen celebration with the hopes that our openings continue to benefit from the  A-building renovations. The vintage, old-hollywood feel of Valentines day theme that the store will be decorated in will be accompanied by a DJ, recruitment representatives from Macy’s, and hundreds of fashionable FIT students, and not to mention amazing merchandise.

Men's Mondays: El Pais’

There's something about February air that makes men dress in that rugged-outdoorsy way, whether it's the body sensing an exiting Winter, and the excitement over an approaching Spring, depends on the man himself. Even I, normally imitating Mad Men Menswear, sought out a pair of Billy Reid duck boots to pair with 511 Levi's, and a Topman wool sweater, all for the sake of "manliness."

Denim, Wool, Leather. All that we're missing are the streams & trees in NYC...

Inspiration isn't hard to find either. This week we turn to an editorial shot by Sergi Pons for El Pais' Magazine. Aiden Shaw and Mario Sanz model exactly the look we've been seeing around the pavement this week! Yes, even in NYC can we dress like we're in the middle of the Rockies, and we probably do it better than those living in the Rockies...(just sayin')

Gossip Friday: Madonna's Feeling's Toward M.I.A.'s Superbowl Finger Flip

If you watched the past 2012 Superbowl then you my have seen Madonna's most talked about halftime performance. As was all to be expected a positive performance M.I.A. during her part of the performance threw an inappropriate finger gesture that annoyed many people and one in particular Madonna herself.

I, Rony Patzan, went out to take a close look at the collection, the quality, construction, design, to see how it holds up against it's bodywear competitors. I'm happy to say some is great, and I did buy 8 pieces from the collection, but others are a bust you do not want your man encountering on Valentine's Day!

Welcome Back!

It's the first week back at FIT and it's time to get back into the old grind. Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful winter break and is ready for the semester! Here at the Society blog we like to make the start of the semester easier for everyone.. and what better way to do that then a fabulous shopping guide?!
